South Dublin County scoops up 4 prestigious LAMA Local Government Awards

South Dublin County Council picked up 4 LAMA Awards on Saturday night. The Local Authority Members Association (LAMA) Awards, now in their 2nd year, were exceptionally well received at the Citywest Hotel with over 800 guests in attendance, including Councillors, local government representatives, senior business executives and community leaders. Winning projects nominated by the Council and submitted by the relevant companies were:

  • New County Library in Tallaght for Best Public Building in association with William Fry

  • Adamstown for Best Private Housing Development in association with Smarthomes

  • Adamstown for Best Affordable Housing Development Project and

  • Arena Development for Best Mixed Development Project

Leitrim County Council was another big winner with 3 Awards, closely followed by Kildare and Westmeath County Councils were also amongst the top performers with 2 Awards each.

LAMA represents elected councillors nationwide. They play a pivotal role in local government, being charged with representing their constituents in local issues, providing leadership within the community and being responsible for the provision of local services.

The awards received a fantastic response to the call for all county councils to participate and were set up to celebrate those whose work has been of tremendous benefit to the community.
The LAMA Awards, at which RTE’s Sharon Ni Bheolain was the MC and Minister John Gormley was the Guest of Honour.
