Shortlist announced for the Zurich LAMA Awards 2009

Zurich and the Local Authority’s Members Association (LAMA) are pleased to announce the release of the shortlist for their upcoming awards. The awards celebrate excellence in Construction, Engineering and infrastructure projects as nominated by Local authorities, for their outstanding contributions and benefit to the community.

This will be the 3rd annual LAMA (Local Authority Members Association) Awards and the first year to have the awards associated with Zurich. The Zurich LAMA Awards were officially launched with a photocall in Dublin’s Docklands with Brian Houton of Zurich and William Ireland of LAMA.

Cllr. William Ireland, Chairman of the LAMA Association said: “We are delighted to be working with Zurich and with their partnership of the awards, we hope to further highlight and recognise excellence in construction at local, county and national level. Congratulations to all who have reached the final."

Conor Brennan, the director of broker network at Zurich commented:
“The Zurich LAMA Awards are an appropriate acknowledgement of those projects – well planned and expertly executed – which enhance our daily lives. So, whether it’s a civic building of merit, an innovative leisure facility or an inspired social amenity, let’s pause and celebrate those who realised the vision.  We are very much looking forward to recognising some of the great work that’s happening all over the country at the awards evening in January”.

The awards, which last year were attended by over 800 of Ireland’s key Local government executives and community business leaders, are receiving an even more impressive welcome and interest this year.

Nominations were received from Councillors nationwide and a full list of Finalists is available on our website www.lamaawards.org Winners will be revealed at a Gala ceremony on 24th January 2009 at the CityWest hotel, hosted by Primetime presenter – Miriam O’Callaghan
