The LAMA Awards 2011

The Local Authority Members Association is delighted to announce that nominations have begun for the LAMA Awards 2011, as they move into their fifth year. For 2011 we hope to further highlight and recognise excellence in construction at local, county, and national level. Next year's gala event will be held on the 22nd of January 2011 at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Santry, just off the M50 and nominations are currently being received.

In these challenging times, it is more important than ever to celebrate excellence and to acknowledge the well planned and expertly executed projects which are taking place. Construction will play a crucial role in Ireland’s recovery and it is vital that we celebrate achievements in construction, engineering and infrastructure.

This year, we have revamped and revised the categories, reflecting climate conditions and, to enhance the awards further, we are introducing a Council of the Year Award, Best Green Authority, Special Merit Award, Best Community based Initiative and Best Playground facility. This year, 24 unique categories will commend individuals, initiatives, and projects of benefit to the community.

LAMA plays a pivotal role in local government, representing constituents on local issues. Each LAMA Representative and Councillor of Ireland can nominate in all categories, excluding architect and developer (these categories are entered by companies directly).

On receipt of nominations, we in turn contact nominees to enter their submission for inclusion in the 2011 awards. A shortlist will be released in November and winners announced at the awards in January 2011.

The event promises to be a great success with key representatives from government, heads of local authorities, construction and the corporate business community in attendance. Don't miss out on this great opportunity to showcase excellence in your community!
