Smarthomes is the leading supplier in Ireland of new home technology cabling and solutions. It is an Irish-owned company, which was set up in September 2002 by Dundalk-based entrepreneurs Sean Gallagher and Derek Roddy. The company currently employs 65 staff.
Smarthomes design and manufacture innovative cabling solutions for new homes, centrally controlled from one streamlined box. In 2007 the Smarthomes technology system was installed in over 3,000 new Irish homes. The range of services covered includes telephones, broadband, computer networking, wall mounted plasmas and LCD screens, home cinema, digital and satellite TV, CCTV, multi-room audio, mood lighting and provision for a home office.
Company Managing Director Sean Gallagher was short-listed for the 2006 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the year. In December 2005 Smarthomes was named Ireland’s fastest growing technology company by Deloitte. It is only one of a long list of national awards the company has received for its professional and pioneering approach to business including, the 2004 All-Island Intertrade-Ireland Seedcorn competition, the 2005 “Innovator of the Year” from the Small Firms Association, and “Best Interior Product” at the Plan Expo in Dublin and in Belfast.
Smarthomes technology is used by many of Ireland’s leading developers including Castlethorn Construction, Maplewood Developments, Pierse, the Hanly Group, Ellier Homes, The Newlyn Group, WD Bolster, Adston, Taggart Homes and the Roche Group. It has recently been specified by developers for the first two phases of the new town at Adamstown in Dublin, which when complete, will include more than 10,000 new homes.
