Utilising new technologies or new media, this council effectively reaches its audience through a variety of platforms. This council may offer new amenities or services, utilizing innovative technologies or concepts that have improved the lives of the local community.

This category recognises a council which embraces and promotes an overall ‘green’ ethos. Councils who have provided an array of sustainable services who have actively encouraged businesses and consumers to become greener should be nominated in this category.

  o        Council of the Year

Council of the Year is an important category in that it recognises a local council which has gone above and beyond for the people of the community.  It must have developed and be continuing to develop a range of innovative projects and initiatives which improve and enhance the social, environmental, cultural and economic aspects of community lives.

This category recognises a project which has had a positive affect upon the nation as a whole, enhancing the environment, cultural or social activities, transport links or the economic stability or growth of the local and national communities who use it.

o        Best Public Campaign by a Governmental Body

This category recognises a local authority which has implemented an innovative campaign which aims to benefit the community.  This could be from road safety to environmental issues.  This campaign should have improved or enhanced the lives or awareness of the community in the local area.
